Ben Foley - Biog

Ben was raised by the pre-CGI fantasy movies of Ray Harryhausen; Voyages of Sinbad, One Million Years BC, The valley of the Gwangi…you get the idea.  Becoming a  big dinosaur fan led the pursuit of stop motion animation and CG compositing effects.

Armed with a 1st class Degree in animation he moved to the Mecca of animation – Bristol UK.

His skills were soon put to good use at the infamous Bolex Brothers Animation studios where he met his future business partner and good buddy Chris Hopewell, “…and lo! Collision was born! …and it was good…”

Leaping headfirst into the music promo business it was the music itself that has fuelled 7 years of energy, hard graft and imagination in Bens work.  Ben has a growing list of Promo Directing credits, “Musically I love anything that has strong emotion behind it, it needs to inspire me when writing scripts/treatments as the music should lead that energy into a tangible image.”

“Happy is the man whose job is also his hobby.”

As a director it is invaluable to have a strong working knowledge of exactly how the magic happens from concept to screen.  When not Directing, Ben flexes his further sweet skills as FCP Editor, Post FX Coordinator and Animator.   Often teaming up with Chris forming the unstoppable duo that is “Collision”

In the last few years, Collision has broken into the commercial world bringing new opportunities, bigger toys and a whole new area of production to flex their gung-ho approach to the moving image. A good example of this is the recent co-directed Honda Acura “Wall art” Commercial in which the impossible became the ludicrous when animating a painted cityscape frame by frame across a 100 ft wall.

“I am very proud of our varied and creative body of work. It’s been a roller-coaster of laughter, tears and experiments. Every project has been approached as a challenge, to create something new and different for the audience.”

…Benjamin looks to the future with the dream of combining his interest in Dinosaurs with his other true love; Cadillacs…If he goes on to win tonight’s contest he hopes for world peace, an end to starvation and to create one hell of a Cadillacs & Dinosaurs cinematic blockbuster!

…Thank you
